Alleged immigrant smuggling transaction leaves one dead Close to 10 o'clock Tuesday night, an alleged smuggler driving a red pickup truck was supposed to drop off two illegal immigrants in a north Houston Fiesta parking lot. Police say the smuggler charged the immigrants $1,500 to help them cross the border. Family members in Houston would then pick them up in exchange for the money.
